"A lot has changed since Wanda Sykes emerged on the comedy scene in the '90s. The comic and actress, who got her start as a writer on The Chris Rock Show, has developed her personal brand as the industry has shifted alongside her. Today the comedian is most focused on what is most relevant in her own life, from her young twin children to her health to her family life." Wanda Sykes is so funny when she does stand up comedy! Even if you only listen for a few minutes during your busy day, she will gift you with laughter. So we've talked about Billy Crystal, Ellen Degenerous and now, Wanda Sykes. But there are so many great comedians out there, including some who have appeared on the scene more recently. And I have seen some comedians in person! I have seen Sinbad twice! I was in my 20s both times and went by myself because I was the only one of my friends who liked him. But he was hilarious! And before Sinbad, I went to see both of Eddie Murphy's comedy movies, Raw and Delirious. They were both good, too. And I also used to go to local comedy places when I lived in VA. Usually, they were people I'd never heard of, and I'd go just to have something to do. Even the bad ones were funny enough o make me glad I went, because I love to laugh ("ha ha ha ha"). Today, though, it's just so easy to wait to see them on TV. In fact, I watched almost every season of Last Comic Standing. What about you? Do you like stand-up comedy? Who are your favorite comedians? See you next time! Love, Jeanine

Wanda Sykes is funny. But I have to admit that stand-up comedy is not my favorite thing. I'm more of a fan of slapstick comedy. The more wild and physical the comedy, the harder I laugh.

Oh, that's interesting! Slapstick or physical comedy makes me feel shocked & alarmed. I want to ask if they are alright. In fact, I worry about whether the actors or comedians are going to have back trouble. I think about Chevy Chase, and his addiction. Yeah, it doesn't really work for me. But it's a whole different thing with comedians. Even though they often talk about the pain in their lives, and I feel for them, it doesn't jar me. In fact, it's endearing.

I also saw both of Eddie's stand-up movies and l really like Wanda Sykes. I used to live in Hollywood so l got to see a lot of acts at the Comedy Store including Paul Mooney, Jay Leno, Andrew Dice Clay (not funny!) , Pauly Shore (so not funny) to name a few :-).

Wow, you lived in Hollywood? Neat! I was never crazy about Andrew Dice Clay, either, and haven't seen Pauly Shore do stand-up. But I would love to see the others in person. How neat that you saw Eddie's stand-up, too. I have sung the "I got McDonald's!" part to my son, and demonstrated it, too. LOL! :)

I have been a fan of stand-up before it was called stand-up. Lenny Bruce, Buddy Hackett, Don Rickles, Shelly Berman... I could go on

Don Rickles could make me laugh even when I was gasping in shock at the things he said! I have always liked Jerry Seinfeld, too. That's neat that you like stand-up comedy, too.

I never really had the opportunity to go to any standup comedy. Hell, I don't know any standup comedian. But I do indulge in comedy shows and cartoons, nonetheless, I'l look up Wanda Skyes. I'm sorry I haven't active lately especially on your blog. I have been sick. Have a Hygge day!
